BOTHELL, Wash.—The Northshore School District has continued with its plan to make improvements at several of its schools, including the new Ruby Bridges Elementary School campus and a roof for a performance space at the existing Inglemoor High School.

Work at Ruby Bridges Elementary School includes making needed seismic upgrades in the earthquake-prone Pacific Northwest. At the same time, a roof has been attached at Inglemoor High School’s Northshore Concert Hall. During the spring, other work at the hall included connecting a gas line, and this was done at times when interruption to on-campus instruction would be as limited as possible.

The roofing was part of the overall $34.5 million concert hall project, which was designed by Hutteball + Oremus, and funded by a bond that passed in 2018.

The work continued even as the high school’s athletes returned to campus to begin training for spring sports. Accordingly, the construction team fashioned an ersatz path allowing the athletes to access training facilities during their work.

The construction team spent February and March welding together the roof’s steel components, which had been temporarily sealed together in January. At that point, enclosing the building and fixing any gaps in the structure could be undertaken as the roof neared completion in March.

Late-season snows presented challenges at the jobsite, but the roof installation was nonetheless completed on time.

In addition to also working on the new Ruby Bridges Elementary School, the Northshore School District is adding some 30 classrooms at the combined Skyview Middle School and Canyon Creek Elementary campus.

ICM Controls introduces the CC750 Comfort Control Center, a variable frequency/voltage blower motor speed control that helps maintain air quality and moisture levels. It controls the blower speed in existing HVAC systems and reduces humidity levels by removing excess moisture in the air.

The product can be used with a system equipped with advanced indoor air quality devices and installed by a trained HVAC contractor. It uses a menu-driven program and is designed for single-phase systems. It is available in 115 VAC and 230 VAC models.

DuctSox introduces the Designer Series fabric option for HVAC systems, a patterned fabric duct collection for commercial buildings with exposed ductwork. The series features a UL-approved polyester-blend fabric with a built-in antimicrobial treatment to minimize mold and mildew.

The set can be hung with a suspension cable, H-track or a suspension system that displays perpetual duct inflation during idle air handling periods. It offers different air-dispersing choices, including comfort flow with fabric porosity and/or L-vent openings, or high throw with SG diffuser for high ceilings.

Lennox’s Humiditrol dehumidification system removes moisture based on relative humidity levels instead of a thermostat, while maintaining ASHRAE 62.1 2004 fresh air requirements. Available on many Lennox L series rooftop units, the Humiditrol system uses a patented hotgas reheat design to control humidity, removing more than 1.44 gallons of water per hour at 65 degrees Fahrenheit. When humidity levels are high, the system delivers a dehumidified and neutral air supply. The system adds only three components to standard cooling systems. Designed for easy access, the three-way valve and check valve are accessible in the unit’s compressor section, with the system’s add-on board located on the integrated modular controller.

The system permits humidity to be monitored and controlled in several ways: at the unit via the IMC, through the building control system, using the Network Control Panel network manager, or from a personal computer or remote location using the Lennox Connection Network software.

GrayWolf Sensing Solutions introduces a monitoring kit for measuring indoor air quality parameters.

The product measures carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature and relative humidity for determining the amount of dilution air applied to each space. An optional photo-ionization sensor measures volatile organic compounds down to the low ppb range. Optional electrochemical sensor technology can measure 15 toxic gases, including ozone, ammonia and hydrogen sulfide.

Using Bluetooth wireless technology, the meter communicates information from probe to Windows Mobile Pocket PC or to Windows notebook computers. Probes have a range of up to 30 feet from the mobile PC and may be positioned out in an occupied zone, while the computer may be hidden or locked up as it collects data.

ClimateMaster announces a new console water-source heat pump with EarthPure (HFC-410A) Zero Ozone Depletion. The pump is ideal for facilities where a ductless system may be required, such as schools, hotels and office buildings. Occupants are able to adjust temperatures in individual zones by using the wall-mounted or unit-mounted thermostat.

A cabinet and chassis are the main components of the unit, and the two-piece design allows for the chassis to be installed in a customized cabinet. The heat-pump is available in sizes 1/2 ton (1.8 kW) through 1-1/2 tons (5.3 kW), and it is designed for geothermal or boiler-tower applications.

The product series is housed in a bronze body with a nitrile-reinforced rubber diaphragm and stainless steel head, stem and seat. It is available in 1/2-inch to 2-inch body sizes. Features include stem seals, one-piece plug/stem design and a non-threaded seat for reliable shut-off.

The B-series can be used with steam, water, gases and other liquids at a maximum temperature of 204 degrees C and a maximum pressure of 27-bar gauge. The product is available in a two-way or three-way configuration. Both configurations can be converted by changing the plug/stem assembly and body plug.
